No Till Notes

Mark WatsonPanhandle NRCS No Till Educator Mark Watson earned a degree in agronomy from the University of Nebraska and farms about 3,500 acres north of Alliance with his brother. Mark is the first to admit the change to continuous no till farming was not easy. But the family farm, which raises winter wheat, corn, pinto beans, garbanzo beans and proso millet, has been in continuous no till since 1994.

Mark says he's made a lot of mistakes in applying no till practices over the years, but continues to learn about and share his passion for no till with others. In 2007 his dedication was recognized when he received the Omaha World Herald Master Conservationist Award for Production Agriculture.

Below are No Till Notes columns carried by news outlets throughout the region each week. Where possible, columns written on one subject in a series have been placed in the same document (PDF) for viewing and study ease.
