Corners for Wildlife

Wildlife Corner
The Corners For Wildlife program gives landowners the option to set aside a center pivot corner and plant it to trees, shrubs and/or grass. If at least 400 trees are planted and the corner remains undisturbed for at least five years, the producer will receive a rental payment of $45 per acre per year. The acres planted to trees may also qualify for enrollment in Continuous CRP, which add from $15 to $35 per acre depending on the soil type.

Combining the benefits of the Corners For Wildlife program and the USDA's Continuous CRP program could pay producers up to $80 per acre per year for five years. Continuous CRP pays up to 120 percent of the regular CRP soil rental rate when a field windbreak is established. The regular CRP rate varies across the NRD's three-county area.

Funding for the program is being provided by the Mile High and High Plains chapters of Pheasants Forever in Kimball and Cheyenne counties, Nebraska Pheasants Forever and the NRD.
